What Your Closet Needs Right Now

If you're starting to experience chilly temperatures, I hate you.  Just joking, but I do have a serious case of envy for my friends that live up north and are constantly posting pics on Instagram of gorgeous golden leaves, and all the cute warm weather gear that they get to wear.  Meanwhile, I'm just down here in Miami, patiently waiting for the day that it dips below 80 degrees.  You all can have your winters, I have absolutely no interest in that business.  While you're in the thick of a snopocalypse, buried under a hundred feet of snow, I'm loungin' by the pool, basking in our warm, subtropical weather.  But for now I'm jealous, and your pictures of pretty leaves, and scarves + boots may or may not make me want to kick over your pumpkins.  :)

Let's chat about what your closet needs right now.  I've seen a big trend this year with sweater dresses.  It seems that they're going to be quite popular this year.  Since they usually have a tendency to sell out rather fast, if you find one that you absolutely love, I'd recommend scooping it up fast.  Another huge trend this year is the plaid scarf.  While the plaid scarf is nothing new, different versions such as the plaid blanket scarf, and plaid infinity scarf have been popping up with a vengeance.  Below, I've featured a few other essentials {mostly in budget-friendly prices} that need to take up permanent residence in your closet ASAP.

Shop These Items:

Sweater dress - H&M {available here} //  Wool duffle coat with fur hood {loving the buckles! under $300 here} //  Black suede leather ankle boots - Steve Madden {on sale for 20% off here} //  Oversized turtleneck sweater - H&M {under $50 here} //  Plaid infinity scarf {such a steal for $14 & comes in 2 colors here} //  Felt fedora {comes in many different colors, all priced below $40 here}

Ok, I officially want everything on this list!  How cute is that coat from Zara?!  It also comes in this cream colored version which I ordered for my trip to Austria in December.  I'll report back how it fits!  I'm also in love both the sweater dress and oversized turtleneck.  Both would look perfect paired with my favorite cozy fleece lined tights and those Steve Madden booties!  Top your outfit off with the plaid scarf, or chic fedora and your good to go!

Sale Alert - Shopbop Sale!!

Hey chicas!  Today marks the first day of the Shopbop friends & family sale!  Shopbop is definitely up there on my list of favorite websites, and although the majority of their items can be on the pricier side, the friends & family event that they have a few times per year is a great opportunity to stock up on designer denim, luxe Vince knits, perfectly fitted Eqipment blouses, and killer dresses all for 25% off.

If there is one thing I've learned about shopping this sale it's that if you're on the fence about a certain item, buy it!  Most of the good items sell out lightening fast, and with Shopbop's free shipping/ free returns policy it's basically risk free to test drive anything out.

Below I've featured my top picks for the sale.  Click on any image to be view product info, or to be directed to the Shopbop website.  Happy shopping!

Splurge Vs. Save

We have a trip to central Europe for New Years in the works, which naturally sent me on a quest to find a great new pair of boots.  During my online obsessing browsing for said boots, I came across these two extremely similar leo print booties.

Oh how I love these splurge vs. save editions!  It serves as such a great reminder that even if your budget doesn't allow for high end purchases, there are so many alternatives out there to the pricey versions.

A leopard print bootie will always be on trend for the fall season, but is also a timeless, classic purchase that you can wear for years to come.

The Tabitha Simmons version features calf hair in a snow leopard print, and a comfortable 2 inch heel.  Penny Loves Kenny comes in pretty darn close in a 1 1/4" heel, and while it can't quite compare in terms of craftsmanship {synthetic upper lining}, it is the $826 price difference that makes up for it in my eyes!

The question that I have for you gals is would you rather splurge or save in this instance?

Shades Of Gray

I'm really not an "all black everything" kinda gal.  I really, really wish that I could pull it off because I see images of other people rocking their all black ensembles and it truly does look so chic & pulled together, but when I attempt it I end up feeling like goth girl.  Whomp whomp....

Once the temps start to dip I find myself gravitating towards shades of gray.  Gray plus black is obviously a no brainer, but I also love gray paired with bordeaux, gray & navy, and my personal all time favorite gray & white.

Here's a little gray inspiration {in various price points} that I found while doing a bit of online shopping last night.

Fall Cravings

Hi everyone!  Welcome back from the weekend, hope it was good to you!  We're getting pretty excited for our big move next month, and I think that our weekend activities seemed to show it!  Friday night was spent "glamping" at the new place.  We wanted to see what it was like waking up in the new digs, but since we still don't have furniture over there yet we set up shop with an air mattress.  It was a lot of fun eating take out from a restaurant in our new hood, drinking expensive red wine from plastic cups, roasting s'mores in the backyard {I was eaten alive by mosquito's}, and playing scrabble all night.  The rest of the weekend was spent appliance shopping {kitchen remodel begins this week!}, slowly boxing up our condo, watching 'The Hundred-Food Journey' {highly, highly recommend}, and doing a bit of online shopping.

Speaking of online shopping, retailers are officially debuting fall merchandise, and as always, seeing the collections of thick sweaters, boots, and rich leather accessories evokes the same feeling in me year after year....I wish we lived somewhere that experienced the fall season.  More than anything I crave crisp cool air, the changing of the leaves, and all things related to fall fashion.  Here's a few things that I came across this weekend {in all different price points} that gave me a slight case of depression.

Fall Fashion For Warmer Climates

It's not exactly a secret that Autumn is basically non existent here in South Florida.  Still that doesn't deter me from enjoying some of my favorite sweater weather pieces.

While I would love to wear this outfit with leggings + riding boots, I would be sweltering!  I quickly ditched the idea of black leggings, and paired my oversized cardigan with my favorite black denim shorts instead.   I wanted to keep this look more "Fall" so I opted against wedges, and went with ankle boots instead.  The cute black wool hat pulls double duty as it finishes off my look plus hides my haven't-washed-my-hair-in-three-days roots :)

All it takes is a few clever compromises, and I have a total Fall-worthy outfit that's appropriate for our warmer weather!

Cardigan - J.Crew {here}
Black denim shorts - Siwy {here}
Tank - BP {Under $20! here}
Ankle Boots - Givenchy {here, similar & affordable version here

Are you chicas experiencing cooler weather yet?

Fall In Paris

Bonjour ladies!  Earlier this week I found myself day dreaming about a trip to Paris {apparently I was looking through too many photos of Paris Fashion Week}.  Although I've never been to Paris in the Fall, I imagined myself bundled up sipping on café au lait at a charming outdoor cafe, shopping in le triangle d'or, sealing my lock with Adam on Pont de l'Archevêché {Lovers Bridge}, and lounging around in my favorite hotel in Paris 'Hôtel Plaza Athénée'.

Here's a few cute little pieces that make me want to jet off to the City of Lights this weekend.....

Sweater Weather

Hi ladies!  I've been seeing so many pictures on instagram of everybody rocking their cozy Fall sweaters + boots and I'm not gonna lie...I'm totally jealous!  More than ever this year I'm craving sweater weather.  I have so many cute sweaters, jackets, and booties that are just sitting in my closet waiting for the temps to drop about 10 degrees more {since anything below 70 degrees feels freeeezing to us in Miami!}.

In the meantime, I wanted to show you a look that I wore when we were visiting my family in Washington state a few weeks ago.  The temps were in the mid 50's which meant an excuse to take a selfie in a sweater at my moms house SWEATER WEATHER!! ;)

Sweater - J.Crew {here} // Leggings - Veronica Beard {here} *Extremely expensive but most comfortable leggings I've ever owned* // Boots - Rag & Bone {here} // Clutch - Claire Vivier {here} //  Necklace - J.Crew {here}

I love the oversized length of this boxy sweater, especially when paired with leggings - super cute + flattering.

As I mentioned above, the leggings I'm wearing are very expensive, but they are by far the most comfy leggings I've ever owned.

Lastly, if you're on the fence about investing in a pair of Rag & Bone boots, definitely do it.  I've owned mine for about 2 years, and while it makes me a bit sad to see everyone wearing them these days, I can definitely understand why.  The quality of the boots is amazing, and they age so beautifully.  Definitely an investment piece, but you'll own them for years to come! xx

P.S. Tomorrow I have a scrumptious guilt free apple crisp recipe for you to try out!

Weekend Wishlist

Right now I'm in the process of redecorating our condo.  Restoration Hardware had their friends + family sale last week and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to scoop up some pieces that I've been eyeing for a while at a discount :)  So, while I'm playing interior decorator for these next few weeks, I've decided to put myself on a self imposed shopping diet.  Yep, that's correct.....no purses, no shoes, and no clothes until I'm finished with my little project.  I'm not gonna lie, its gonna be rough

Here's a few things I found this week that I'll be swooning over all weekend:

Shop this wishlist below.

Saint Laurent Totes · BCBGMAXAZRIA Skinny Pants · Sam Edelman Boots

That ah-mazing necklace is available {here}.

I hope that you all have a beautiful weekend & thanks so so much for reading!! xx

Wednesday Wishlist

1. Campbell Small V Chain {here} //  2. BB Dakota Faux Fur Collar Vest {here}  //  3. APC Pointelle Sweater {here} //  4. Madden Girl Flats {here} //  5. The Row sunnies {here} //  6. J Brand Lovestory Flares {here} //  7. Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Secret {here} //  8. Givenchy Wedge Ankle Boots {here} //  9. H&M Jersey Leggings {here} //  10. Chloe Marcie bag {here} //  11. RVCA Fedora {here}

So many lovely things on this list!

I'm loving the price of the BB Dakota vest {under $100!}.  Since this vest features a fur collar with a sweater material backing, its more versatile and can be paired with leather leggings to be dressed up, or alternatively with flared denim for more of a relaxed bohemian feel.  I definitely plan on purchasing this!

Those faux leather paneled leggings from H&M seriously look wayyy more expensive than they are!  One of my gf's was wearing them a couple weeks ago and I was shocked at how great they looked + $24.95 is such a steal!  And speaking of steal, those cute bargain priced Madden Girl flats...adorable AND $39?! Score!

How gorg is that Chloe bag?  I'm dying over it!  The studs are the perfect touch for the Fall/Winter season.

If you're looking for the best nude lipstick, Chanel Rouge Coco in Secret is your new bff.

And lastly, I've been eyeing those amazing Givenchy booties for a while now and they may or may not already be on their way to me.... ;)

What looks are you girls loving for Fall?
