Beach Beauty Essentials

Aloha!!  Sorry for the lack of posts on the blog this week.  If you follow me on instagram, you know that I've been on vacay in Hawaii and the only thing that I've been putting any effort into is working on my tan :)

We'll be leaving Kauai on Friday, and making a quick weekend stop in WA to visit some friends + family before heading back home to Miami next week.  I can't wait to share our pictures with all of you!

With that being said, I wanted to chat about a few of my beach beauty essentials that I use while I'm on holiday......

This Week In Pics

Hola chicas!  I'm so happy that its Friday for the simple fact that we're leaving for HAWAII this weekend!  Adams 30th birthday is next week [yes, I'm older than Adam by almost 2 years!] and I surprised him with a vacay in tropical paradise to celebrate :)  While I have been to the"Aloha State" many times [since I grew up on the west coast], Adam has never been so it will be an entirely new experience for him.  I'm so excited to get outdoors and do some hiking, sea kayaking, snorkeling, and really just explore the island of Kauai. There really is nothing quite like the beauty of Hawaii!

Please forgive me if my blog is a little silent next week, however, you can always follow me on instagram { andy_adler } to get a glimpse of our island adventures.

Here's my past couple week in pics:

Found! The Perfect Wool Hat

Confession: my skin is having a moment this week. Its bad....like hideout-in-your-house-for-days-bad.  I'm not sure exactly what caused the worst breakout of the year, but thanks to a few quick cortisone injections from my dermatologist, I'm now on the mend.  Anyways, {I promise there is a point to all of this} on Monday, my enormous zits & I went to Anastasia @ Nordstrom for my usual brow appointment.  The brow counter happens to be directly next to the hats department which is where I found exactly what I needed: a super cute, perfect for fall wool hat to cover up the mountains that decided to take up residence smack dab in the middle of my forehead!
{{View purchasing info here.}}

The floppy brim is a perfect, classic size {not too big} and I love the tie detailing on the side.  Its Nordstrom's actual brand, and comes in 4 different colors {I'm contemplating the black one also!}.  This made in Italy cutie is 100% wool, and is ideal for the upcoming cooler months.  Its easy on the wallet as well, priced at $38!!  I'll definitely be wearing this on repeat this Fall, and I had to share this fab find with you ladies! :)

Fall Wardrobe Staple: Black Leather Skirt

La-la-loving leather for this season, and especially digging the look of a black leather pencil skirt.  This is definitely a staple piece that every girl should own in her wardrobe since it can be dressed up or down and you'll own it for years to come.  One of my favorite way to wear a leather pencil skirt is to pair it with an angora sweater.  The contrast between the leather and fuzzy sweater pairs perfectly; soft & feminine + a little bit of edge.  Wear with either pointed toe pumps or sky-high booties and finish your look with perfectly applied winged liner & nude polish. :)

**A quick note about the skirt:  I regularly shop at All Saints, and I find the quality of their leathers to be quite good for the price point.  I actually own a leather pencil skirt from there that I purchased over 2 years ago - so def worth the small investment.  xx

Berry Mint Champagne Sangria

Whats the best way to celebrate the end of summer?  With a thirst-quenching glass of sangria, natch!!  This is my favorite sangria recipe that I always serve it when I'm entertaining guests.  Its super easy to put together + much tamer than most sangria's which usually call for hard alcohol.  I serve mine with Italian prosecco and a seriously refreshing homemade mint simple syrup.  So what are you waiting for?  Whip this up this weekend, kick back & cheers to the end of summer :)

Ingredients

1 bottle of Prosecco
3/4 c. orange juice
1 lemon, zested and thinly sliced
1 lime, zested and thinly sliced
1/2 c. sliced strawberries
3/4 c. blackberries
1 c. packed mint leaves + extra for garnish
1 1/2 c. filtered water
1 1/2 c. sugar {or sugar substitute, I used Z sweet}

Directions

In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and mint leaves.  Bring to a boil & allow to simmer for about 10 minutes; stirring occasionally.  Remove from heat, and allow to cool for 15 minutes.  Strain mint leaves out, and set simple syrup aside.

Meanwhile in a large pitcher, combine orange juice, prosecco, and lemon & lime zests.  Add berries, sliced lemon & limes and stir to incorporate.  Lastly, add the simple syrup and give it one last good stir.

Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour sangria immediately.  Garnish with fresh mint leaves and enjoy!

OOTD - Casual Joie Pants

Since its still blazing hot + humid here in Miami, its not exactly appropriate to be busting out all of my Fall clothes just yet.  I'm in love with these relaxed Joie "Edana" pants, which can easily be dressed up {with heels & accessories}, or down by pairing with flat sandals for a more casual feel.  This is just a couple {literally two!} quick pics of how I styled them for a lunch date last week.  I honestly don't know how all these other girls can post dozens of pictures of their outfits of the day.....I feel so foolish posing in public! :)  xx

This Week In Pics - NYC Edition

Happy Friday and Shanah Tovah to any of my Jewish readers!  I hope all of you girls had such a great week!  I skipped my Friday post last week because Adam & I were in NYC, and lets face it, I'm such a slacker with the blog when I'm out of town.  We were there to spend a little time in the city and watch all of the matches at the US Open.  I LOVE being in NY and we always stay at the same hotel in Soho, The Crosby Street Hotel.  I absolutely adore this stylish little boutique style hotel; the service is unmatched by any other hotel we've stayed at in the city, the rooms are luxe, and they cater to dogs (very important!).

The shopping in Soho is the best, and I definitely did a little buying while I was there!  I picked up some gorgeous leather pieces and I'm hoping that I'll get the chance to wear them on our travels this year since it never really gets too cold in FL.  I could go on and on about Soho......but I'll just share my piccys instead.  Definitely makes me wish that we lived there....maybe someday!

Here's my past couple week in pics.  Enjoy!

I'm obsessed with Jo Malone 'Blackberry & Bay' candles.
I made cajun chicken pasta primavera for dinner...def not the healthiest but so tasty!
Flying into NYC

The Crosby Street Hotel.  Love the old cobblestone streets out front.

The decor is very shabby chic / eclectic and I really like the huge loft style windows.
We had these amazing passes which allowed us to access the player lounges & cafeterias, locker rooms, basically anywhere we wanted to go!
Salon fresh! Just had a blowout and on was the way to our first night match.  Wearing A.L.C. "Monty" crepe top {here}, Genetic denim, Jimmy Choo & Sofia Al Asfoor bag.
Adam has a relationship with Andy Murray (through business) and we sat in the family box behind Andy's mother & girlfriend - both are very nice ladies!
Our hotel has this darling little courtyard that is only available for hotel guests.  At night they illuminate it with candlelight.

The courtyard is staffed by a butler, so we ordered a bottle of vino :)
This picture makes me laugh! Adam looks thrilled to be shopping with me :)

We went to the Dominique Ansel Bakery hoping to get our hands on their famous cronuts....

Unfortunately, they were sold out!! People line up everyday at 6am to get their hands on them!

We tried two eclairs instead....not very good. :(
The hotel has a rooftop garden where they grow seasonal veggies.

And they have chickens!!

Georgetown Cupcake :)

The banana split (top right) was by far the tastiest one.
More daytime tennis matches.
Exploring little Italy which was only a few blocks from the hotel.

Wearing J.Crew jeweled sweatshirt on sale {here}, and Siwy camilla cutoffs {here}
Adams only request for this trip was to eat at Lombardi's Pizza.  Open since 1905 and voted #1 pizza in NYC.

Pizza heaven!
Back in FL and happy to see this little muffin!

Labor Day was spent relaxing on the beach :) Wearing Beach Bunny 'Pop That' bikini {currently on sale here}

Thank you so much for checking out my blog!  Have a beautiful weekend xx

Spinach & Asparagus Quiche With A Spaghetti Squash Crust

Quiche is one of my absolute favorite breakfast items.  In fact, quiche was one of the first things that I ever baked for Adam to show off my cooking skills :)  Last week, I saw a recipe floating around on Pinterest featuring a quiche made with a spaghetti squash "crust".  GENIUS!!!  I combined my own quiche recipe here (which I make slightly healthier substituting any cream for greek yogurt) with the spaghetti squash crust concept and it turned out sooo tasty!  Granted, its not going to be that buttery & flaky pie crust bottom, but its a nice healthy alternative...perfect for our waistlines!  Serve with a side salad for a delicious Sunday brunch meal.  xx

spaghetti squash crust quiche

Ingredients

5 large eggs at room temperature, beaten
3/4 c. diced yellow onion
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 c. asparagus, cut into 1" pieces
1 1/2 c. fresh chopped spinach
3/4 c. greek yogurt
1 1/2 c. monterey jack cheese (gruyere is also very good in this!)
1 tsp salt
1tsp fresh ground black pepper
1 tsp olive oil
3 cups cooked spaghetti squash (about 1 small squash)
Non stick spray oil

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.  Line a cookie sheet with tin foil.  Slice your squash in half,  and place face down on the sheet.  Roast for about 30 minutes.  You will know when it is done because you will be able to easily pierce it with a fork and the edges will be slightly browned.  Remove from oven and set aside until it has cooled enough to handle.

Meanwhile, lower oven temperature to 375 degrees F.

Once squash has cooled, scoop out seeds and discard.  Scrape the sides of the squash until it loosens.  Measure out 3 cups of cooked squash and firmly press into the bottom and up the sides of a lightly greased 9" pie pan making sure that it is evenly distributed throughout.  Set pie pan aside.

Heat olive oil in a saute pan over medium heat.  Add onions & garlic and saute 2 minutes.  Add asparagus and cook until slightly tender.

While the asparagus is cooking, whisk together eggs, greek yogurt, salt & pepper, and about 1 cup of the cheese.  Whisk until well incorporated.  Set aside.

Once asparagus has cooked, remove pan from heat and add in chopped spinach, stirring frequently until spinach starts to wilt.

Layer cooked asparagus/onion/spinach on top of the spaghetti squash.  Slowly pour in the egg mixture.  Set pie pan on cookie sheet, and place in oven.  Bake for 45-50 minutes @375 degrees until quiche is set.  Top with remaining cheese, cover loosely with tinfoil and bake for an additional 5 minutes.  Remove from oven & serve immediately.

I hope you guys enjoy! Please let me know if you end up trying this out.  As always, I welcome all comments & suggestions  :)

Outfit Of The Day - Casual Knit + Leopard

Sweater- BCBG | old {similar here}
Shorts- Zara | purchased at the beginning of summer {similar here}
Shoes - Chanel {similar at J.Crew here}
Clutch - Claire Vivier {here}
Bracelets - J.Crew {purchased in store recently, unavailable online} & Jules Smith {here}
Sunglasses- Tom Ford {here}

Since it never really gets too cold in Miami, you'll almost always find me in some form of a lightweight knit sweater + shorts.  It's my year round uniform with some degree of variation.  I loved this outfit that I wore over the weekend to attend an open house [still house hunting!] and really liked how the leopard print clutch pulled everything together!  Hope you all had a great holiday weekend :)
