Spring Wardrobe Refresh

I love when spring/summer clothing starts rolling out into stores.  Living in a tropical climate, these are the pieces that I wear for the majority of the year.

I haven't posted in a while, but I wanted to pop in here and share some spring outfit inspiration.  This design board features a mixture of new pieces that I've recently added to my closet, and a few others that I have my eye on.

 As I continue to hone in on my personal style, I look for clothing that will compliment my closet as well as the other pieces that I've collected over the years.  The goal is to create a timeless wardrobe that I can wear for years to come.

Packing List For Upcoming Travel

The best decision I ever made was to stop following fashion "trends" a couple years ago and to start building up my wardrobe with pieces that I truly love and make me feel good.  I started paying attention to certain details or elements that I'm consistently drawn to (for me it's neutrals) and began investing in quality pieces to build up a really good capsule wardrobe.  Now whenever I want to pick up some new clothing for upcoming travel, I know that my purchases can be easily integrated into my wardrobe to create an easy, classic, and feminine look.

Below are some pieces that I recently picked up for our upcoming vacation - we're headed back to Italy!  I plan to wear these with lots of neutrals; white jeans, my easy Chloe flats, white Superga sneakers, slightly distressed denim, soft gray sweaters, camel colors, etc.  Just give me a glass of vino, and I'm all set.  Ciao! xx

Favorite Outfits In St. Barths

We're back from our ahhhhhhhmazing babymoon in St. Barths.  It was such a relaxing escape, and I truly did not want to leave.  I'll post more detailed vacay pics later on this week, but first I wanted to share with you guys a few of my favorite outfits that I wore while we were there.

Lately, you may have noticed that I've been forcing enlisting the help of my husband to take some outfit pictures of me.  I asked you guys back in this post if you liked seeing more fashion based posts like this, and the majority response that I received was pretty positive.  While I'm unclear on so many areas concerning the direction my blog will take after I have my baby {such as whether or not I'll choose to share her on here, and how much time I'll want to devote to Typical Domestic Babe},  I promise that this will never turn into a "fashion blog".  I'll continue to keep posting my recipes, home decor, and general lifestyle posts, because that's what I'm most passionate about!

For now, however, these fashion posts kind of serve as a fun way to document my pregnancy, and I get some pretty pictures out of the deal :)  Win/win in my book!

Now, onto the outfits.....

^^  Wearing:  Asos dress {non maternity I just sized up 1 size to accommodate my belly, get it here } //  Halogen wedges {here} //  Star Mela clutch {found here}

Why I loved this outfit:  This dress was my absolute favorite that I wore while we were on holiday.  It really is such a basic black dress, but the off the shoulder sleeves, and flirty hemline really spice it up!  Plus, it's super lightweight, making it the perfect dress for hot summer nights.  I love how the neon pink ethnic clutch pulls this whole outfit together.

^^  Wearing:  Belabumbum nursing cami & pajama bottom c/o {here} & Belabumbum robe c/o {here} //  Sleep Mask {old}

Why I loved this outfit:  Pj's are totally an outfit, right?  ;)  When Belabumbum approached me to do a collaboration, I had never heard of them before so naturally a little research was in order {I am really selective about who I choose to feature on my blog, and only accept items that I would purchase myself and whole heartedly recommend to my friends}.  I found that their products are sold in Nordstroms, they have GREAT online reviews, and I just loved what they were all about in general! After they sent me these pj's + robe, I honest to goodness wanted to live in them 24/7.  They are made from the absolute softest pima cotton, and all of their pajamas are made with nursing in mind {it's all about the easy access ladies!}.  They are perfect to wear in the hospital after you've delivered, when you want to look cute for visitors but without looking overdone, and also perfect for just lounging around the house!  I'm planning on purchasing another set like this cute heart print, or this fun pink number!

^^  Wearing:  Wendy Bellissimo maternity maxi dress {currently 25% off here} //  Steve Madden sandals {here} //  Flora Bella raffia clutch {here} //  Louis Vuitton sunglasses {available here}

Why I loved this outfit:  First off, let me say that this dress looked wayyyyyy better on in person than it photographed.  I felt so beautiful in this dress as it really emphasized my baby bump, but without being too clingy....even Adam kept complimenting me all night how gorgeous I was in this dress!  Ladies, you know when your guy keeps bringing it up, it's a real winner!  I loved the tie-dye print in creamy navy & teal tones and it really was the perfect effortless maxi to wear while on vacation.  It would also be great for a baby shower or any other occasion where you needed to get a little fancy this summer!

I have such a busy week ahead of me.  Our nursery furniture is being delivered today wooohoooo, and we've been literally rearranging every single room in our house ever since we got back.  Our guest bedroom is now the nursery room, the office is now the guest bedroom, maids quarters {older homes in Miami almost always have small shoebox sized "maids quarters" rooms} is now a small office and I even rearranged our bedroom and ordered new furniture because I was on a roll!  Can't wait to show you guys how everything turns out!  Hope you all have a great week, thanks for reading! xx

Packing List For St. Barths

Welcome to June!  I can not believe that we've officially entered into the summer months - this year is flyyyyying by at lightening speed!

We're gearing up over here to leave for our babymoon later on this week, and I am SO excited to be traveling to St. Barths!  It's been on the top of my 'must travel to soon' destinations, and should be such a relaxing week for us {now if only I could get Adam to unplug, and stop with the never ending work emails & phone calls that drive me absolutely crayyyzayyy}.

Below are a few items that I will be packing in my suitcase.  The bikini + cover up are non maternity, but look equally great on pregnant bellies!

Shop These Items:

I love this cover up so much I also purchased it in white {I just sized up 1 size to accommodate my bump.  Find it here} //  This clutch is so fun & vibrant, and will be great for dressing up simple dresses for dinners on the beach {here} //  Extra large Ray-Bans {here} //  I'm obsessed with the perfect coral pink color of this limited edition lipstick! {available here, color 'paradisio'} //  These cute watermelon espadrilles were a recent score from the Net-A-Porter sale and are so summery {here, also love this coconut version!} //  This bikini is SO flattering for curvier figures, and the top sizes go up to accommodate a DDD bust.  It is non maternity, but works great with my bump! {available here, I also bought it in this color} //  SPF is a must have for any beach vacay {found here} //  These comfy wedges will be on repeat for dinners {they come in so many other colors too!  here} //  I keep my makeup pretty simple when we travel and plan on packing up this pretty blush palette for an au naturel glow {here}.

Have a great week!  Thanks for stopping by! xx

Date Night Style

I really am such a casual jeans + t shirt kinda gal, but every once in a while I love to get dressed up for dinner dates with my husband.  Earlier this week was one of those occasions.  I really felt like taking a break from my normal jeans routine and getting a little more dressed up than normal.

I selected my most comfortable LBD, and paired it with an old white blazer {not gonna lie, I probably won't wear this blazer again until after I give birth.....it was like the scene from Tommy Boy 'fat guy in a little coat'}, and a comfy pair of black wedges.  I recently just purchased these wedges after seeing them on Somewhere Lately's blog, and am seriously debating getting them in another color because they are SO comfortable.

My dress is maternity, but I've linked an identical non maternity version down below that even features similar figure flattering side ruching :)  These types of dresses are extremely versatile, and can easily be dressed up as I did for this occasion, or dressed down with flat sandals + a denim jacket....the perfect summer uniform!

Wearing:

Dress - Isabella Oliver currently 20% off with code FF415 {identical non maternity version here} //  Blazer - Top Shop, old {similar here} //  Wedges - Halogen //  Purse - Chanel {affordable version here} //  Sunglasses - Ray Ban

Question:  Are you enjoying seeing more fashion posts like these?  While I never will be nor do I want to become a "fashion blogger", it is kind of fun to share my personal style with you guys....plus it's a great way for me to document my pregnancy.  Just wanted to hear a little feedback from you guys so leave a comment below and let me know what you think!

I hope you have a wonderful long holiday weekend!  I'll be back on Tuesday, and will be kicking off the week with a new recipe! Make it a great one, guys! xx

Style Steal Of The Week

Ethnic clutches are a huuuuuuge trend this summer that I'm loving.  The intricate beading, gorgeous embroidery, and bright fun colors make them the perfect accessory to bring a basic summer outfit to life!

I'm always shocked, however, by how expensive some of those little boho ethnic clutches can be.  Really??!! $300 for something that, yes, is super cute but looks like I picked it up at a local flea market.  Enter this one from Target.  It's fun & bright, with beading, and tassels {another big trend}!  And don't let me forget to mention that this cutie rings in at only $16.99!

....and a little inspo on how these fun clutches really punch up a basic outfit.

Shopbop's Friends & Family Event

Hi friends!  I know that I said that I would have a giveaway today, but I decided to postpone it to share my picks from Shopbop's mega 25% off sale that started today!  Shopbop is one of my favorite websites to shop from, and though they are on the pricier side, you can really score some great deals on sandals, sunnies, and other great pieces during their sales.  Now is the time to stock up for the upcoming summer season!  Below are a few items that caught my eye while shopping {from my bed!} this morning :)

My Favorites {click on the item to shop}:

Booo for me being prego in the middle of summer because there is SO MUCH that I want but I know that nothing will fit me!  I did order these K. Jacques sandals {how cute is the fringe detailing on them!?}, and also these purple mirrored Ray-Bans {in the color bronze/purple mirror}.  Also, I recently bought those gold Splendid lace up sandals and I love them but wish I would have waited and scored them for 25% off....and lastly, that olive green jump suit from Splendid is identical to the navy blue one that I wore in Capri last year that you girls loved so much - would definitely recommend it!

The giveaway will be up tomorrow!  Have a great day & happy shopping! xx

Trend To Love: Gladiator Sandals

Whether you love 'em or hate 'em, prepare to see them everywhere this upcoming summer.  Expected to be worn by all your favorite "It Girls" once the temperatures rise, gladiator sandals, along with the slide on sandal {think Birkenstock} are forecasted to be THE sandals of summer.  Be on the look out for eye catching hardware, gorgeous leather straps & ties {bonus if they're in suede - another big trend!}, and fun accents like tassels or fringe.

I have a hard time embracing the full length gladiator sandal.  I admire them on other girls, but have yet to find a pair that look amazing on me.  My calves are often too small, leaving the straps to gape & hang oddly around my legs, but I do, however, love the daintier versions that strap around the ankle.  My search for that perfect full length pair is to be continued...

 In the meantime, I've featured 5 sandals that are perfect for you to store away until the promise of warmer months, or to rock asap on your next island getaway! xx

Shop These Sandals:

One.  Splendid Crete Sandals {available in 3 colors here} //  Two.  Stuart Weitzman Gladiator Sandals {here, budget friendly option found here} //  Three.  Steve Madden Worldly Sandal {under $60 here} //  Four.  Zara Leather Roman Sandal {here} //  Five.  Isabel Marant Amy Wrap Around Sandal {available here}

Which sandal is your favorite?

Have a beautiful weekend friends!  Thanks so much for reading xx

Recently Wearing

Hi guys!  Thanks so much for hanging in there with me since I haven't been blogging much lately.  I still have been pretty sick and don't have much energy to do anything except lay around and watch marathon sessions of Downton Abbey {my new fave show!}.  My Dr. gave me a prescription for some anti nausea pills, but I'm trying to do things as natural as possible so I've only taken them a couple times when I'm DYING!  I'm really looking forward to getting some energy back, and hopefully moving past this awful sickness.

I posted my last "Recently Wearing" back in December, and you ladies seemed to really like it so I thought I'd post another version.  As I've said before, my style is all about mixing high & low end pieces.  I have absolutely no problem rocking my Birkin bag with a $30 dress!  After all, it's not the price of them item that matters, it's how it makes you look + feel :)  I also always try to link to more affordable options when possible for my babes on a budget.  Lets get started...

Wearing: The softest Bella Dahl Button Down {found here} //  Paige denim {old, similar here} //  Gianvito Rossi suede pumps {here, similar extremely affordable version here}

This Soft Joie knit is one of my absolute favorite items in my closet and I constantly get asked about it whenever I wear it! {available here} //   Citizens of Humanity jeans {here, similar budget friendly here} //  Givenchy boots {sold out in suede, similar here} //  Chanel purse {similar cute navy & gold purse here }

J.Crew cashmere tee {here} //  AG Jeans {found here} // Jimmy Choo pumps {here, similar less expensive version available here} //  Ray-Ban shades {available here}

Calypso St. Barth knit {here, similar fine knit alternative version here} //  BCBG Mason leggings {here} //  Ray-Ban's {found here color gold} //  Saint Laurent Sac de Jour

Soft Joie shift dress {old, also loving this dress} //  J.Crew denim jacket {old, but how cute is this H&M jacket?!} //  Dolce Vita sandals {found here} //  Hermes Birkin Bag

A lot of you have been asking me about maternity items.  I haven't purchased anything "maternity" yet, but have definitely been looking!  I'm SUPER bloated right now {which my Dr. told me is very common in the first trimester} and in the past couple weeks, I've started to see the beginnings of a small bump although Adam & I are the only ones who notice this.  I'm sure to everyone else I just look like I packed on the pounds over the holidays ;)  So for this reason flowy tops and shift dresses that hide the burrito bump are my best friends lately lol.  I haven't really done much shopping this past month just because I know I won't be able to enjoy anything I purchase for very long, but I have bought a few cute affordable flowy dresses that I think will work well throughout most of my pregnancy and I thought I'd share them with you.

I love that cute spring/summer dresses are finally making there way back to stores!  What have you ladies been purchasing lately?

Recently Wearing

Hi friends!  Welcome back from the weekend - hope it was good to you.  Ours was pretty low key over here; grocery shopping, ran a few errands, went to dinner with friends, went to iPic and saw Exodus: Gods & Kings {was really good!}, took the pups on a long walk....normal weekend stuff.

I don't really do a ton of outfit posts anymore because the mirror selfie shots are kinda cheesie and lets face it, there are SO many great fashion blogs out there {with beautiful photography} that serve as wonderful outfit inspiration.  Plus, I would much rather cook/photograph & share great recipes with you guys anyways.  I am always shocked, however, with how many emails I get about outfit ideas/recommendations & just general requests for more OOTD style posts.  So with that being said, I thought I'd fill you guys in on what I've been wearing lately, mirror selfies and all  :)

Sweater: Haute Hippie {on sale here} //  Lipstick: Tom Ford color 'Crimson Noir' {here}

Wearing the coziest Free People top.  I love the knit cuffs detailing! {available here}

It has really cooled down the past couple of weeks in Miami {hooray for 60 degree weather!} and I've been rocking a lot of mostly black clothing.  Wearing Frame denim {limited sizes on sale here, also found here} //  Obey tee {available here} //  Faux shearling vest, sold out {similar version here} //  Isabel Marant booties {runs large size down available here, extremely similar affordable version found here} //  Ray-Ban sunglasses {on sale here} //  Saint Laurent Sac De Jour tote, sold out.

Cute & cozy socks {found here} and these affordable comfy leggings for the win!  I really like this brand of leggings and also just ordered this coated faux leather version as well.

Living in these black J. Brand jeans lately {here} //  MICHAEL Michael Kors Sweater {on sale here} //  Aquazzura heels {50% off here} //  YSL clutch

Here's another shot of that MICHAEL Michael Kors sweater that I linked above.  It is so comfy and looks great on {very flattering}.  I'm thinking about getting it in gray also now that it's on sale.

I love camel + gray + white.  Such a classy color combo.  Wearing Current/Elliott Stiletto jeans, sold out {similar here, here, and here} //  Gray tee, old //  J.Crew oversized cardigan {40% off here with code GIVETHIS} //  Jimmy Choo pumps {found here, similar less expensive options here & here}

Hi babes!  Can you believe today is Friday already?  This week really flew by in the blink of any eye.  I've been working on some content for Typical Domestic Babe, and I'll have a great recipe & tablescape to share with you starting next week.  In the meantime, here's a few items that made my weekend wish list.....

Shop These Items:

OOTD - Distressed Black Denim

Hi loves!  It's been a little radio silent over here lately as I had my family in town.  Since my family lives on the West Coast, familia time is pretty limited and I treasure every single minute that I get to spend with them.  My brother left on Sunday, my mom flew out this morning and I'm already missing them immensely.  I hope you all had a great holiday, and got to spend it with the ones that you truly treasure :)

I wanted to share with you guys a cute outfit that I wore last week for a movie/dinner date night with my husband.  I'm loving black denim lately and have been LIVING in these jeans since I bought them!

Jeans - J.Brand {here} //  Tee - T by Alexander Wang {here} //  Booties - Christian Louboutin {here, similar budget friendly option here} //  Jacket - Iro, old {similar here}

 These jeans are so so comfy!   They have the perfect amount of distressing, and the dark color combined with the mid rise is extremely slimming.  Black denim is so versatile and can be seriously dressed up at night, or can be dressed down with cute sneaks & a tee for running errands during the day.

I just ordered a couple more pairs of black jeans during the Net-A-Porter sale including these Paige jeans which are currently 50% off, and these Frame beauties which are 40% off.  LOVE a good sale!

Any great deals that you ladies scored on Cyber Monday?  Fill me in! xx

P.S. Sorry about the new comment policy.  I'm just trying to deter unnecessary & hateful comments that I've been receiving lately from an anonymous user.

Sale Alert - Shopbop Sale!!

Hey chicas!  Today marks the first day of the Shopbop friends & family sale!  Shopbop is definitely up there on my list of favorite websites, and although the majority of their items can be on the pricier side, the friends & family event that they have a few times per year is a great opportunity to stock up on designer denim, luxe Vince knits, perfectly fitted Eqipment blouses, and killer dresses all for 25% off.

If there is one thing I've learned about shopping this sale it's that if you're on the fence about a certain item, buy it!  Most of the good items sell out lightening fast, and with Shopbop's free shipping/ free returns policy it's basically risk free to test drive anything out.

Below I've featured my top picks for the sale.  Click on any image to be view product info, or to be directed to the Shopbop website.  Happy shopping!

Splurge Vs. Save

We have a trip to central Europe for New Years in the works, which naturally sent me on a quest to find a great new pair of boots.  During my online obsessing browsing for said boots, I came across these two extremely similar leo print booties.

Oh how I love these splurge vs. save editions!  It serves as such a great reminder that even if your budget doesn't allow for high end purchases, there are so many alternatives out there to the pricey versions.

A leopard print bootie will always be on trend for the fall season, but is also a timeless, classic purchase that you can wear for years to come.

The Tabitha Simmons version features calf hair in a snow leopard print, and a comfortable 2 inch heel.  Penny Loves Kenny comes in pretty darn close in a 1 1/4" heel, and while it can't quite compare in terms of craftsmanship {synthetic upper lining}, it is the $826 price difference that makes up for it in my eyes!

The question that I have for you gals is would you rather splurge or save in this instance?

Shades Of Gray

I'm really not an "all black everything" kinda gal.  I really, really wish that I could pull it off because I see images of other people rocking their all black ensembles and it truly does look so chic & pulled together, but when I attempt it I end up feeling like goth girl.  Whomp whomp....

Once the temps start to dip I find myself gravitating towards shades of gray.  Gray plus black is obviously a no brainer, but I also love gray paired with bordeaux, gray & navy, and my personal all time favorite gray & white.

Here's a little gray inspiration {in various price points} that I found while doing a bit of online shopping last night.

Shop These Items:

Madewell flannel {available here} //  Italian wool hat {found here} //  Isabel Marant x Oliver Peoples sunnies {want these! here} //  Cashmere scarf {here} //  YSL eyeshadow palette {in No. 12 found here} //  Oversized cashmere sweater {on my wishlist! here} //  Gap faux suede booties {LOVE these! 30% off here} //  H&M bucket bag {under $80 here} //  Marc by Marc Jacobs watch {available here} //  The coziest angora blend socks {here} //  Clinique nail enamel {in 'made of steel' found here}

Handbag Heaven

I am such a creature of habit.  Even though I've built a pretty solid handbag collection in mostly neutral colors {it's advised to always invest in classic colors first when building your collection}, I always think that I'm ready to add a few bright & fun colored bags to the mix.  But what do I naturally gravitate towards?  The blacks, creams, and grays...like I said, creature of habit over here.

I'm trying to break out of that neutral rut, and have found that I'm really digging red bags for fall.  I already had a couple of red bags on my mind, and then the babes over at Somewhere, Lately posted a gorgeous red Saint Laurent Sac de Jour on Friday and it sealed the deal.  I'm on the hunt for the perfect red bag after my self imposed shopping diet ends.  Shopping diets are no fun, but they must be initiated from time to time in order to please the hubby {entirely too much $$ spent on furniture this month....no bueno}.

So in the meantime, here's a few gorgeous gals that I'm drooling over....
