When you live in South Florida, its a little hard to get into the 'Fall Spirit'. The changing of the leaves doesn't exactly pertain to palm trees, and we don't get the crisp Autumn mornings {although the humidity finally disappears, thank goodness!}. In the past years since moving here, I haven't decorated my casa with any type of Fall decor.
Last weekend, on our way back from Hawaii, we broke up the 12 hour travel time {we could have flown to Greece in 12 hours. wtf were we doing in Hawaii!?} with a quick 2 day stay in Washington state to see some of my family and friends. Being up there, wearing my cold weather sweaters and seeing the colors of the leaves changing before they fall to the earth, put me in the mood for Fall. I was officially ready.
Yesterday, I made my way to Pottery Barn and with the idea of creating a beautiful harvest centerpiece for my dining room. Its pretty hard to go wrong at Pottery Barn, and I'm so happy with how it turned out!
I purchased two faux birch wood candles from Pottery Barn {view them here} to set the tone for the rustic harvest look. Next I filled up the bottom of my large wooden bowl/tray with crumpled up newspaper as a filler, and topped it with a pumpkin spice potpourri {no longer available online, but is available in stores} which features dried leaves, oranges, walnuts, cinnamon sticks, and cute little pumpino's. I purchased a large faux white pumpkin {here} and placed it on top of the potpourri, and scattered real mini pumpkins which I had purchased at Costco the day before {a large bag with 10-12 minis for around $15}.
I also added a few stocks of dried gold dipped corn, and scattered around an Autumnal Vase Filler {here} which contained dried leaves and pine cones. I finished off the look with a box of gold gilt acorns {view here}.
Lastly, to tie everything together, I purchased orange colored mercury votive holders {which must only be available in stores because I can't find it online}. I love the warm look these display when you're burning a candle - so pretty!
All in all, I'm really pleased with how everything turned out, and our condo now smells amaaaazing thanks to the potpourri!
In case your like me and need a little help getting into the harvest spirit, I'm here to help!! I'm doing a giveaway, and will be gifting a few things to help you get started on your fall decorating.
I'll be gifting two of the mercury votive holders {as seen in the above pictures}, and also a box of the gold gilt acorns, and a bag of Autumnal vase filler.
