Product Review: Jouer Cosmetics

Nothing ruins my weekend faster than one simple word: humidity.  Any of my Southern state babes can likely vouch that there is nothing worse than leaving your house looking all hot, only to arrive at your destination lookin' like a hot mess!

I love wearing tinted moisturizer for an everyday all natural look, but during the summer months most tinted moisturizers combined with the Miami humidity {which is basically the equivalent of living in a steam room} makes my face look like a big ol' oil slick.  That's why I was beyond thrilled to hear about Jouer Cosmetics tinted moisturizer, which is a matte moisturizer.  Dreams do come true, ladies!

Read below for my full review.

I first heard about Jouer on Instagram.  I can't remember exactly whose page I was stalking browsing, but it was some celebrity makeup artist who was displaying various products that she used for a photoshoot.  I had never heard of Jouer before and was curious as to what type of products they offered.  A quick google search turned up an endless list of YouTube + blog reviews, all of which were actually pretty good.  I saw that Jouer is sold online at Nordstrom, and since I basically buy all of my makeup/beauty products from there {it's all about those Nordy notes!} and given Nordstroms great return policy, I decided to give it a try.

 The matte moisture tint is amaaaaaazing!  It's like velvet blending into your skin, and you need to only apply a small amount as a little goes a long way.  It is lightweight, but provides the perfect amount of coverage and completely covers any imperfections on my face.  I LOVE the matte formula because I don't need to apply a finishing powder afterwards and can not imagine ever going back to a regular tinted moisturizer that leaves that glowing, greasy looking sheen.  The moisture tint is oil free, hypoallergenic, fragrance free, and is infused with vitamins A, C & E.  Additionally, it offers SPF 15 to protect from UVA & UVB rays.  I also lovelovelove the fact that Jouer 100% does not test on animals!

I also purchased Mineral Bronzing Powder {in Suntan} and love it as well!  It blends seamlessly on top of the moisture tint and makes my face have an allover healthy golden sun tan glow.  The bronzer is also oil free, and is infused with Japanese green tea {which is a powerful antioxidant}, as well as vitamins C & E.  It's labeled as "perfect for all skin tones".

Jouer {zhew-ey} means 'to play' in French, and what girl doesn't like to play with makeup?!  The containers for all the bronzers, blushes, eye shadows, etc. that Jouer manufacturers are all made to clip into place with one another, essentially creating your own custom palette.  What an ingenious idea!

I am so happy that I discovered Jouer, and can't wait to try out more of their products.  I've read that the blushes are supposed to be amazing!

Right now, Nordstrom is having a Jouer promotion.  If you spend $50 in Jouer products, you receive a full sized Jouer liquid eyeliner, a mini Jouer lip gloss, and a cute leopard print Jouer cosmetics bag {as pictured above} for free.  The promo is online only, and you can click here to be directed.

Fall Fashion For Warmer Climates

It's not exactly a secret that Autumn is basically non existent here in South Florida.  Still that doesn't deter me from enjoying some of my favorite sweater weather pieces.

While I would love to wear this outfit with leggings + riding boots, I would be sweltering!  I quickly ditched the idea of black leggings, and paired my oversized cardigan with my favorite black denim shorts instead.   I wanted to keep this look more "Fall" so I opted against wedges, and went with ankle boots instead.  The cute black wool hat pulls double duty as it finishes off my look plus hides my haven't-washed-my-hair-in-three-days roots :)

All it takes is a few clever compromises, and I have a total Fall-worthy outfit that's appropriate for our warmer weather!

Black denim shorts - Siwy {here}

Are you chicas experiencing cooler weather yet?

Celebrity Inspo OOTD Chrissy Teigen

Happy Tuesday ladies!  Hope you all had a perfect weekend :)

I came across this image of Chrissy Teigen on Pinterest a while back, and was drawn to how effortlessly perfect she looked.

I'm a huge fan of flared jeans as they give you the appearance of long + lean legs.....I can always use a little extra help in that department :) and it's a nice alternative to always wearing skinny jeans.

This is such a simple outfit to recreate using pieces that you most likely already own in your closet.

Here's my version: {woohoo first selfie with my new gold iphone!}

Outfit Details
Denim: J Brand Lovestory Flares {on sale here} //  Top: AllSaints {here} //  Clutch: J.Crew {no longer available but similar version here & extremely affordable version here} //  Wedges: Brian Atwood {similar herehere} //  Belt: Nordstrom {here} //  Cuff H&M {old, but I love this onethis affordable version

I finished off my look with loose & messy curls.  To achieve Chrissy's look, I started by wrapping 2 inch sections of hair {but only curling from the halfway point down, and then leaving about an inch at the bottom uncurled as well} around a 1 1/4" curling iron, alternating the barrel pointing up and then down in the next section so that the curls were not all completely the same.  When all my hair was curled, I gently broke up the curls with my fingers, and then twisted and pinned back a small section of hair to one side.  Voila!  Loose + slightly messy waves :)

How would you recreate this look?? xx

Found! The Perfect Wool Hat

Confession: my skin is having a moment this week. Its bad....like hideout-in-your-house-for-days-bad.  I'm not sure exactly what caused the worst breakout of the year, but thanks to a few quick cortisone injections from my dermatologist, I'm now on the mend.  Anyways, {I promise there is a point to all of this} on Monday, my enormous zits & I went to Anastasia @ Nordstrom for my usual brow appointment.  The brow counter happens to be directly next to the hats department which is where I found exactly what I needed: a super cute, perfect for fall wool hat to cover up the mountains that decided to take up residence smack dab in the middle of my forehead!
{{View purchasing info here.}}

The floppy brim is a perfect, classic size {not too big} and I love the tie detailing on the side.  Its Nordstrom's actual brand, and comes in 4 different colors {I'm contemplating the black one also!}.  This made in Italy cutie is 100% wool, and is ideal for the upcoming cooler months.  Its easy on the wallet as well, priced at $38!!  I'll definitely be wearing this on repeat this Fall, and I had to share this fab find with you ladies! :)
